I had such great fun with you at the last Tiny Bites dinner gathering at Cobre that I’ve decided to make these public dinner excursions a regular thing. We’ve been discussing what cuisine to investigate in the month of October on the Tiny Bites page on Facebook. And the winner is….Indian!
While I am a fan of the Indian fusion that takes place at Vij’s and Rangoli, I have yet to discover an Indian restaurant in Vancouver that does a good job of cooking homestyle meals like my old roommate from Mumbai. Frankly, I’m not even sure that an eatery of such merit can be found west of Knight Street or north of King Edward. So this means that we’re leaving the confines of the city to explore what can be had in Surrey, which I hear has some pretty amazing locations to get your fix of Indian fare.
Time and date are fixed as this is pretty much the only day in October I have free:
Date: Thursday, October 16th
Time: 7pm sharp
RSVP via: Facebook | comment | e-mail
Please try to chime in by Tuesday, October 14th
Where are we going? That’s still up for discussion, as no one has told me about a homestyle place to date. Here are the Surrey restaurants that have been brought to my attention:
- Bombay Se – one of my coworker’s favourite Indian haunts. Higher end Bombay fare with a modern twist.
- Green Lettuce – the folks on Facebook have been giving the nod to this restaurant that serves Chinese food with an Indian flair.
In my heart of hearts, I would like to settle on a place that excels in homey, just-like-my-roommate-made-it meals. So please help me find a place like that: leave me a comment, send me an e-mail, or ping me on Facebook about where in Surrey we should eat!
