Salsa birthday eats at Habit

This is Blogathon post #8 of 48 in support of the David Suzuki Foundation

Habit is where SalsaVancouver.net volunteers decided to take one of our own, whose birthday fell on the same day as a Sunday afternoon event held at Heritage Hall on Main.

Habit: tofu and mushroom agedashi

The dishes at Habit are tapas style and are perfect for sharing. My favourite is the carrot and brie perogies: melt-in-your-mouth terrific! The sweetness of the carrot and the creaminess of the brie add an exotic twist.

Wish I could say that all their dishes are as great as the perogies. I’ve been disappointed by the moroccan chicken and they way they overcook their fish. Still, Habit is worth a visit if you want to chill in a funky environment and gorge on fancy perogies!

More than just congee at the Congee Noodle House

This is Blogathon post #5 of 48 in support of the David Suzuki Foundation

My acquaintance of Congee Noodle House was limited to sick days, when all I can stomach is a steaming bowl of congee. Turns out that this place is also a regular late-night pick for the SalsaVancouver.net crew.

Inside Congee Noodle House

There were a variety of vegan-friendly options, such as their fried tofu (my favourite of what we ate) and the garlic gai lan. The quality of the food is good for the price and is a far healthier choice than the late-night, post-clubbing dive of a Chinese restaurant on the corner of Granville & Davie.
