Here is one last post about our Blogathon 2009 charity of choice, in the form of quick facts on the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society.
Did you know that…
- 10 million pounds of food move through the GVGBS warehouse annually?
- 500 volunteers a week contribute 100,000 hours each year?
- They never solicit money or food door-to-door or by telephone?
Agencies served by the GVFBS
- Missions
- Soup kitchens
- Youth and women’s shelters

- Drop-in centres
- AIDS service organizations
- Community kitchens
- Children’s programs
GVFBS Depots
Clients of the food bank can pick up food weekly at one of 15 depots located in Vancouver, New Westminster, Burnaby, and the North Shore. Depots are run by a volunteer staff. Read more >
