A letter of introduction from the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society

I was going to describe the impact of one of your donated dollars in my own words, but I cannot do better than those of CEO Cheryl Prepchuk, from the Food Bank’s Spring 2009 letter campaign.

You and I may ask, “What will we eat for supper tonight?”
Many ask, “Will we have supper tonight?”

For the past 26 years, the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society has been committed to the fight against hunger in our community. For every $1 you donate, we are able to purchase $3 of food. Your donation ensures that we can provide fresh fruit, vegetables and protein items to those who need it the most.

Single mothers with babies, families with income insufficient to meet basic needs, seniors living on limited income, the homeless and youth are all represented at the 15 depots and 100 agencies supplied by the food bank.

The Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society does not receive any government support. We are able to continue to purchase high quality food for the families and children who need it urgently when you support us with your generous gift.

You are helping to put food on the tables of up to 25,000 people each week. Your donation is critical for getting healthy food to hungry families in your community.

Please give generously today so that others will have supper tomorrow.

With sincere thanks,
Cheryl Prepchuk, CEO

Since Tiny Bites’ Blogathon 2009 goal is to raise over $2000 for the Greater Vancouver Food Bank Society, that means that your contribution to this effort will provision our community’s disadvantaged with over $6000 worth of food. I hope you feel, like we do, that this is a worthwhile endeavour.
