My direct encounter with David Suzuki

This is Blogathon post #9 of 48 in support of the David Suzuki Foundation
I was in grade 11 at the time, overseeing a group of girls that were volunteering at my alma mater for one of our senior girls’ basketball games. I was so focussed on watching over our volunteers that I didn’t realize just who it was that was seated immediately to my right. Dr. Suzuki, who was present to watch one of his daughters play (on the opposing team), tapped me on the shoulder and asked me for the time.
My jaw dropped. My voice disappeared. I was so unbelievably starstruck that the person that inspired me to pursue a career in marine biology was actually speaking to me! Eventually, I remembered my manners and coughed out a response. Dr. Suzuki gave me a questioning look, thanked me for my answer, and resumed watching the game.
If I ever meet him again, I certainly hope that I’ll be much more coherent than the first time!
