Blogathon 2008: a water conservation tip from a supporter

3 Comments July 26, 2008

This is Blogathon post #6 of 48 in support of the David Suzuki Foundation

This is one the SalsaVancouver.net volunteers, Irene:

Karen and Irene

Irene recently described her shower routine to me, which was taught to her as a matter of course while growing up in Valencia, Spain. It’s so simple that I can’t believe we aren’t taught this in North America.

  1. Turn on the shower and enjoy until you are ready for a shampoo and soap.
  2. Turn off the water. Perform your shampooing, soap, and other duties.
  3. Turn the water back on for the final rinse!

Easy, huh?

She told me this tip last week, so since then, I’ve been trying it out myself. I get a little chilly during the time the water is off, but I think it’s because I haven’t worked out the timing and logistics. Will keep on trucking, and maybe adopt some of the timing techniques that Irene herself uses!
