Everything Wine opens its doors in North Vancouver

2 Comments Tiny Bites ConsultingMay 22, 2008

Buzz Bishop of 95 Crave FM fame just wrote about the new Everything Wine shop that a number of us Vancouver Wine Casual folk have been eyeing. From all accounts, it seems to be a veritable warehouse of wine (and only wine). I hope that they’re not sacrificing quality for breadth.

Notables:

  • Tasting bar is open every day between 2 – 6pm
  • 5% discount on purchases of over 12 bottles
  • Weekly special events, like May 27th’s Taste of Italy for $25
  • Eco-friendly wines are grouped together in a single specialty section, so you can comparison-shop all those that subscribe to sustainable, organic and/or biodynamic practices
  • Future plans to bring their entire inventory online. Pricing, promotions, and purchasing at your fingertips

Read up on it:

I think a field trip is in order, don’t you?

I would think the larger the number of skus, the greater chance for their to be quality amongst the rows… so I’m confused as to how you think it might hurt quality by having a larger selection.

For the record, I haven’t been to the store, just going by my wife’s assessment (she’s a wine rep and popped in on Tues night)

    Hi Buzz,

I’m curious whether Everything Wine would be similar to the Costco-like BevMo that we came across in San Francisco. There is probably more quality stuff in absolute numbers; personally I enjoy patronizing a discerning shop where you are reasonably assured of a good bottle no matter which one you select.

Not to suggest that this place doesn’t filter out crappy wine; the presence of a daily tasting bar and wine education indicates a commitment to quality. Guess I’ll just have to get on over there and find out!

Got something to say?
